• MC PRP Hair Treatment is the newest hair loss treatment pioneered by Dr. Choi. He is North American's first
and most experienced cosmetic PRP provider. Having performed many hundreds PRP  treatments for the skin,
Dr. Choi frequently observed  thin and short (miniaturized) hair near PRP treated skin, growing thicker and
taller than hair farther away from PRP treated area. Dr. Choi found this observation intriguing and looked
further into how PRP could be used to help people with hair loss.

  • After a small amount of blood is taken from the patient to produce the hair follicle stimulating platelet rich
plasma (PRP), the scalp is prepped with thorough cleansing. Calcium-activated PRP is injected via syringe and
applied topically with dermaroller. Dermaroller creates microscopic channels that allow the PRP to penetrate
deep into the skin on the scalp where it stimulates the growth of hair follicles and creates new blood vessels.
Occlusive dressing is then applied to the scalp and photomodulation (i.e. Photodynamic therapy is used to
further enhance the effects of PRP.

most patients report minor to no discomfort during the procedure. There is no down time associated with the treatment.
Normal activity can be resumed immediately, but your scalp should be protected from the sun and excessive irritation.

  • How long is the procedure?
Actual treatment time varies person to person depending on the size of treatment area. It can range
from one to two hours.

  • What are possible complications?
Mild swelling and tenderness of the treated area are very common. Typically swelling subsides in hours.
Tenderness may last a day or two. Some PRP injected areas may appear bruised. Typically bruising
disappears in a week or so. Although we have not had any infections or viral reactivations, but they are
still possible.

  • How safe is the procedure?
MC PRP Hair Treatment is extremely safe when used to treat appropriate patients.

  • Is everyone a right candidate for this procedure?
  • MC PRP Hair Treatment is a safe choice for many patients with hair loss. However, patients with active
infection on the scalp, history of shingles on the scalp, diabetes, coagulation disease, or on blood
thinning and/or immunosuppressive medications are not right candidates. If hair follicles
are entirely lost, the treatment will not work. Patients who have lost their hair follicles require hair
    transplant surgery.

  • What is the cost involved?
  • $600 covers a consultation and the PRP treatment.

  • How many treatments do I need?
  • Initially, two treatments spaced out by 3 months are recommended for rapid regrowth. For some
    patients, maintenance treatment may become
  • necessary every year or so.

  • What is the success rate?
  • Although results vary between patients, we have greater than 80% success rate based on patient
    satisfaction and clinical outcome.

  • How much science does this procedure have behind?
  • Although PRP has sufficient theoretical scientific basis to support its use in hair restoration, hair
restoration using PRP is still at its infancy.
  • Clinical evidence is still weak. However, many of our patients report excellent results. Considering its
excellent safety profile and relatively low cost,
  • MC PRP hair treatment is a promising treatment option for patients with thinning hair.
